Ah, October, how I love thee. Beautiful sunshine, wonderful couple...win, win. Elise & Mark are very sweet and soft spoken. They are breathtaking behind the lens. I'm so honored they chose me to photograph their engagement and wedding. This was my first time shooting at the

Urban Event Space

(Firestone building) in downtown Kansas City. It is incredible inside. Being in the heart of the city you can only imagine what the views are like.

Thank you Elise & Mark for including me in your day. I'm forever grateful.

There are a lot of pictures here. I really try not to get too crazy posting pictures but for this one I just had to. These two are one of my very favorite couples of all time. All time, people. Not only are the beautiful and perfect behind the camera but they are so incredibly generous and truly kind. They go above and beyond to take care of others. This beautiful wedding in September was held at

The Journey Home

in Dearborn, MO. It is an exquisite property that provides outdoor ceremonies under a big beautiful tree and then a reception in a cute white barn. This seriously was a gorgeous wedding. Please take your time and oohhh and ahhh over all the images, I know I do.

Josh & Kristen Engaged | Kauffman Memorial Garden | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Tomorrow is the day, the day these two get married! They are both incredibly gorgeous as you can see, so my job this day was a walk in the park...literally. We had a great time together walking around the Kauffman Memorial Gardens and then off to another little park nearby. The weather and light was perfection. The golden hues brought out all the beauty in the colors of the trees and gave their skin the warm sun-kissed look. If this is just the engagement I can only imagine how beautiful their wedding is going to be. Looks like the rain might hold off for us tomorrow so that is making us all super happy! Fingers crossed.

I can't believe this beautiful couple's wedding is coming up in just a few short weeks at the Victorian Veranda in Lawrence, KS. I can hardly wait. This was a super sweet engagement session at Shawnee Mission Park. The park is huge and absolutely beautiful. I'm pretty sure I could spend all day there and never get a bad picture.

The day the emailed to tell me that I was going to be their photographer I did the happy dance! Andrea & Blair are the real deal. Sweet to the core but they know exactly what they want and I love that about them. The First Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, Missouri was by far the most beautiful church I have ever seen. The light was incredible. If I could photograph every wedding there for the rest of my life I'd be happy little camper. The moments right after the ceremony are my favorite. Andrea broke down with happiness. She had just married the man of her dreams. The tears and emotion in those photos still touch my heart every time I look at them. I'm so glad I snuck in there with them to capture that. It was a wonderful day. A special shout out to my 2nd photographer Cindy who is super talented and a pleasure to work with.

You don't have to spare on beautiful pictures just because you are having a short and sweet wedding. I was so happy when Shauna contacted me from Nevada! She was getting married here in Kansas City and only the pastor and myself would be in attendance. We were also the witnesses! The pictures show just how beautiful they are. I'm so grateful at the chance to photograph them and to be apart of their wedding memories.

For the Love of Pictures. 2015 Blog Time.

For the Love of Pictures. 2015 Blog Time.

This is the first post for 2015 and I'm going to change things up on the blog a bit and let me tell you how and why. I am mostly known as a wedding photographer but I also love, love, love photographing families and children. I want to photograph that type of session more often and this year I'm going to focus energy into making family portraiture a bigger part of my business and brand. This doesn't have anything to do with blogging, but just a heads up to start looking for more families on the blog! Now on to the biggest portion of my business...weddings...

Every wedding is very different, but yet they all share the same joyous things. They are all beautiful, wonderful and special. They all include loved ones, family and friends. There is always so many kisses, hugs, smiles and laughter happening throughout the day. I honestly and truly enjoy each and every wedding I am blessed to attend. I am grateful to the couple who hired me to be apart of their day and to capture their memories. In a normal blog post I try to give a quick summary of the entire day, where we went and what so and so did on the trolley and yadda, yadda, yadda. After 4 years of weddings and blogging I really feel as though I come off sounding fake with all my "wonderful", "amazing", and "beautiful" comments on every blog post. Every single word I write is true, but I don't ever want to be thought of a photographer that just goes through the motions and that just phones it in when blogging. I am not a fan of blogging. We all know this. I don't know the reason why really other than I don't want others rolling their eyes at my words when all they want to see is the pictures. So, with that in mind from now on my blogs will be a little more simplistic and true to my craft. It will be about the pictures. The pictures will tell the story that I don't have the words to express. You will see the tears and laughter yourself instead of reading my words telling you about it. You will see the beautiful sunshine and light instead of me saying what a beautiful day it was outside. You don't need someone to tell you the sky is blue when you can look at the sky and see that for yourself. Of course this all comes with a little wiggle room. If I feel there is a little backstory that needs to be told to understand the picture then I'll tell it. If I love a picture so much and I want you to know why then I'll say it. Mostly I just want you to see the pictures as the story, after all that is how the couple will look at their wedding pictures years from now. Their pictures will retell the story of their day. You will still see the credit given to all the great vendors who helped make the day run smoothly and look so perfectly. A wedding is not made by just one vendor. Everyone deserves recognition for their work, so if I have that information you better believe I'll post it. I have some more and bigger changes coming for B.Sharp Photography later in the year, but for now get ready to start enjoying more of the pictures.

xoxo,

B

Crissy + Connor | Sawyer Room | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Crissy + Connor | Sawyer Room | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Crissy & Connor are absolutely stunning people just in the everyday world, but on their wedding day they shined. Crissy was insanely gorgeous. One of the prettiest brides I've ever seen. Hotel Phillips is one of my favorite places to shoot at. The lighting and the glamor of the hotel is just perfect. We spent the morning there getting ready and then we moved our way to the church. St. Agnes is a huge, glorious church and it's beautiful stone structure fits perfectly with the day. Connor and Crissy anxiously awaited seeing each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle. You could almost see the butterflies in their stomachs! The tears in Connors eyes when she walked in said it all, this was the love of his life.

When the ceremony came to an end we hopped aboard a ginormous party bus and made our way back into the city. Of course as soon as we did the rain started and proceeded to pour. Despite the rain we rocked the pictures and during the reception the rain stopped and I stole them away for some more pictures in the streets of downtown Kansas City. I'm so glad I did. They are show stoppers.

The reception was so much fun. Everyone, and I do mean, everyone got out there and danced like it was their last night. DJ Fernando killed it like usual (he's the best). I've never seen a group have so much fun and laugh so much. It was fantastic and I know it was everything Crissy and Connor wanted it to be. I'm so thankful I was there to photograph every second.

Congratulations Crissy & Connor. I hope you know how much I adore you. *Muah*

"It is a perfect day." I think I heard these words spoken a million times. It was true. It was a perfect day. The sun was shinning the sky was blue and it was Anne & James wedding day. The story begins at

Church of the Ascension

in Overland Park. It's a big, open and warm church where family and friends gathered. We kept Anne a secret from James even though they were just across the entry way from one another. Each one was giddy with anticipation. Excitement was definitely in the air. As Anne made her way down the aisle James starred in awe. She was a vision. Her eyes steady on him the whole time it's like no one else was even around. The pews were filled and each witnessed the beautiful love between them. Everyone loves love.

After the ceremony we hopped on a trolley were the real festivities began! We had the tunes jammin' and everyone was shakin' their booties. My second shooter, Christine, I love this woman more than anything. She is the silliest and always has the wedding party cracking up and doing goofy things. This was one of those times too. She's a nut. We arrived at the

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

and spent our time going all around taking gorgeous and incredible pictures. Anne's long veil, the girls giggling, and the boys dapper good looks made for a fun afternoon. I'm pretty sure we all sweated a ton but it was sooooo worth it.

Our final stop for the night was at the

Overland Park Marriott

. The place was decorated so perfectly. There's that word again, perfect. The cake was delicious, the toasts were tearful, the dancing was a blast. Anne even got a serenade from the guys. It was quiet a great night. I loved every second.

Congratulations Anne & James. Here's to a lifetime of health, wealth and happiness.

Kaitlin & Chris's day began just as beautiful as it ended. The girls and I arrived at the insanely gorgeous

Eldridge hotel

in downtown Lawrence, Kansas. The rooms were amazing. The light was like a fairytale in there. Chris and the boys were laid back and comfortable hanging in Chris and Kaitlin's home while they got ready for the big day. We made our way to the

Lawrence Country Club

for the first look and what a sweet first look it was. No tears but there were smiles as big as you could get them! A hop on the party bus and we were off to the local park to capture Kaitlin & Chris and all their wonderful wedding party. The boys kept the girls giggling the entire time and the beautiful couple couldn't keep their eyes off of each other. It was ceremony time so we made our way over to the gorgeous

Plymouth Congregational Church

. It was perfect and sweet and finished off with a confetti exit! So much fun! We ended our night back at the Lawrence Country Club where everyone enjoyed great food and company. We took one last sunset picture before the sun disappeared and then danced the night away!

Congratulations Chris & Kaitlin. It was a magical fairy tale and I wouldn't of expected anything less!

Karen & Jonathan, oh Karen & Jonathan, how I love thee. Let me count thee ways.

These two are so, so, so much fun. Seriously, they are the type of people you just want to be around because you know no matter what you are doing that you'll have the time of your life. Their wedding was the epitome of this! Karen was breathtaking and her shoes were to DIE FOR! Obsessed. Jonathan was smiling so much and you could tell he was so happy to be marrying the love of his life. Karen & Jonathan compliment each other so well. They are both so kind and thoughtful. They make sure that the people they love know just how much they are loved. They are fun and crazy and there is such a spark between them.

The ceremony was held in a super beautiful and open

Nativity of Mary

in Independence, MO. The light filled the room with warmth as friends and family watched Karen & Jonathan commit their love and life to one another. There were lots of smiles and laughs during which was adorable. After the ceremony we got on the most incredible party bus to travel around Downtown Kansas City for pictures. Those pictures are so awesome. First stop was the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and then to the Kauffman Performing Arts building. That one shot below is one of my all time favorites. It's outrageously great. Final stop was the city streets downtown. I love street pictures downtown. So cool and so classic. It's the city and it's who we are.

The reception was held at the gigantic and grand

Town Pavilion

in downtown Kansas City. I have never shot there before and it was such a sight to behold. There was so much dancing. EVERYONE was out on that dance floor giving it their all! There was a huge photobooth where guests packed in and made the wackiest pictures. I just stood there and watch and laughed so hard.

I love you guys so much. I can't wait to see you again.

BEST. COUPLE. EVER!

Yes, I'm yelling that. Yes, it had to be in caps and bolded. Not even kidding that Jessica & Evan are absolutely the best people in the entire world. I love them. I adore them. I want to be them. They are beautiful, sweet, kind, funny, and more. It's kinda sicking, but you can't help but fall head over heels for them. I knew from the second we started their engagement session last fall that this was going to be an epic wedding. I don't use the word epic lightly so prepare yourselves for LOTS of amazing blog pictures below. I mean, at the end of their engagement session they pulled off the famous Dirty Dancing lift. Say what?!? So incredible. I've never seen it attempted or let alone done right before but they nailed it. I'm am so, so, so happy I got a picture of it (see it below too. It's too good not to share). They loved it too because they blew it up HUGE and displayed it at the wedding. Eeek! I'm giddy like a school girl.

It was a cloudy day with light sprinkles and an outside ceremony.... uh, just a little nervous. Back up plan was good to go with moving the ceremony inside though so we weren't sweating it. The fates were with us and God made sure this wedding was everything it was supposed to be and more. The clouds stayed but the rain stopped completely about 45 minutes before the ceremony! Perfectness. The ceremony and reception were both held at

The Rhapsody

in Independence, Missouri. This was my first time shooting there and it was beautiful. There is a separate little house on the property for the girls to get ready in, a sweet and pretty outdoor ceremony area, and the reception room had the most beautiful warm glow of lights. The venue is gorgeous inside and out.

Oh, can this crowd dance. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE young and old were out on the dance floor all night long. It's a photographers dream come true to have so much dancing and laughing going on the entire reception. Never was there a dull moment. I stayed until the very last second of the night and I walked away smiling ear to ear. It was so great. I told them I want them to get married every weekend so we can do it all over again!

Congratulations Jessica & Evan. You are simply amazing. I am beyond grateful that God put you into my life and you chose me as your photographer. I will never, ever forget your wedding or you both. xoxo

Biggest shout out ever to my BFF and second shooter Christine. I love her so much it hurts. She can rock a camera like no one else. Muah!
